Smart Notebook and Maestro - (Control your computer with an iPad!)
Did you know that you can control your smart notebook files from an iPad or iPhone?
(If you are viewing this from your email, click here to view the blog and be able to see the tutorial video in it.)In order to make this happen, you will need two things:
1. The Maestro Add-on installed in your smart notebook. (Please contact Colleen or Andrew to have this done.)2. An iPad with the "Smart Notebook" app installed. (This should be in your self-service app. If it's not, submit a help-desk, and Andrew or Clint will put it in there for you.)
To control your board from the iPad, all you have to do is:
On your computer:
1. Start Smart Notebook as usual, and display it on your smartboard.2. Click the "add-ons" puzzle piece
3. Choose "Notebook Maestro"
4. Choose "enable Maestro" and then quit and re-start Smart Notebook.
5. Click on the puzzle piece again and choose "Maestro" - you should see a QR code.
On the iPad:
1. Launch the Smart Notebook app2. Choose "Connect to SMART Notebook Software"
3. Scan the QR Code on your computer or the smartboard
On the computer:
1. Select the green "Connect" button beside your iPad's nameYour iPad will now mirror what your computer is showing, and you can use the tools at the bottom of the iPad screen to control your smart notebook files. Woohoo!!!
One more note:
You can also airdrop smart notebook files from your computer to any iPad with smart notebook on it, which means that your students can individually work on the same files that you have traditionally done on the smart board. (They won't mirror on the smart board this way, but it's like you have multiple little smart boards in your room.) . It's a great way to create centres to engage more students in the learning, and to let them practice and reinforce the skills you taught.I hope this tutorial helps you out... as always, if I can help you at all with this, PLEASE give me a call or email me! I'm always excited to see how teachers are using technology in their rooms!
